None of us know the circumstances in this case, but there's a difference


between avoiding bad elements (gangs, drugs, troublemakers), and ostracizing those who appear different. There are plenty of kids who go through school as loners because their families aren't wealthy, they aren't "attractive", or perhaps they have slightly diminished cognitive ability.

It's not always active bullying, but social exile. Not the easiest thing to counter, but I hope there is a national effort to boost empathy along with the anti-bullying campaign.
