Let's not forget, the furor came to light because the IRS realized they'd done wrong and planted a question during a Q&A to get ahead of the story.

Tax exempt status should be vetted. But in this case, it was slanted with bias, and suppressed the activity of one party's views far more than the other. I won't go as far as to say it was a wide ranging conspiracy, but the IRS wasn't forthcoming in the investigation either. Lerner plead the 5th, and retired with benefits.

I won't argue over the crazy degree to which the FBI, FISA courts, Justice, et.al. are being portrayed as part of "the swamp." Frankly, the degree to which political differences are being criminalized scares me.
