I'd argue, it just stops one party from going it alone on large issues

On run of the day governing, which happens outside the limelight, it's not a problem.

The filibuster is useful, however, when a huge issue comes up, and one party has control of the Senate & the presidency. It slows attempts at one party getting their way. And that's a good thing, imo. When one party can push through their own will, it will necessarily be more extreme.
