What's this?

Not across the board, but firms, lobby shops, trade associations, policy

shops, etc. are common landing spots for executive branch people (at least those who want to do work -- some do go to a figurehead position or BOD spot). I am with a firm but we also have GOP lobbyists, conservative policy folks, etc. and I do a lot of work with the trades in my field. It's amazing to see how little appetite there is for Trump administration people, especially given that they are still in charge and the GOP still has Congress. There is a near universal view that this is an administration full of incompetent boobs who do everything the opposite of right and are corrupt to boot. Very few of these guys have credibility aside from, as you note, a few like Kelly and maybe Nikki Hailey. Funny -- was having a conversation with a colleague who worked for the Bush administration yesterday on this very topic -- her intuition was the one person firms will be looking to hire out of this administration is.....you guessed it ..... Robert Muelller.
