I understand your point as well. I suspect my view of athletes using their

celebrity status to influence people about politically-sensitive issues may be the underlying issue for me. I disagree with Malcolm’s opinion that professional athletes have not only a right but also an obligation to speak out. They work in a business and I agree with Michael Jordan’s take - republicans buy sneakers too.
