I don't understand either party's strategy
Please feel free to peacefully (or angrily) disagree and tell me what I am missing:
I assume the election is won in November by courting the Independent swing voters (the hard core right and left aren't changing their minds no matter what happens)
So, if I'm a Democratic Party strategist I make every effort to get my candidates and elected officials to denounce and quell any non peaceful protest. This just gives the Law and Order rhetoric on the part of Trump some life. Instead, many Democrats seem to be bending over backwards to celebrate any sort of resistance, even destructive and violent.
If I am a Republican Party strategist, I play up the unrest and DO NOT send in any troops and allow the cities to take whatever turn they like. Instead, Trump sends in troops armed like the Third Infantry, and this plays into the Democrats hands.
Some obvious caveats here. Both the far left and far right are manned (and womanned, if that's a word) by morons, especially the Orange Guy, so there may be no way to reason with either. Second, people may genuinely believe in the shit they are doing, and don't care one iota about elections.
Please let me know if I am missing something, but this feels like watching a game coached by Dave Leitao vs. Pete Gillen [Post edited by UVaFan at 07/27/2020 08:57AM]
