We benefited from an unfair post WWII advantage, but I would argue we did tremendous good compared to what more devious countries might have done. The "greatest generation" might not have been the greatest, but they were pretty damned good.
Since then, the Boomers have been less effective. Our policies destabilized the ME in Bush's Iraq disaster. I'd be semi-ok with that one misstep, but in the last three years we've run away from world leadership, leaving a void. We've let the greatest generation down, and the Lincoln Project agrees. Of course, I know you disagree.
