Regarding your last sentence.... I don’t think
anyone has ever said that, and to me that’s one of the biggest problems. The very nature of policing is going to attract some people to the role for the wrong reasons.... the high school bully who wants a sanctioned way to continue to be a bully as an adult. I don’t think it’s the majority of officers by any stretch, but that element clearly exists. And while I also get that it’s a stressful, dangerous job and officers need to trust their partner and not worry about getting ratted out for every small offense, I do think the good officers know who the truly bad apples are, but the stupid “blue wall of silence” has them protect them anyway. And it damages the entire profession. I really wish that would change
