It's the overall system that is so screwed up. Being on Medicare, I've come to appreciate what amounts to a single payer system. We have a secondary insurance plan, and there is where it's totally a mess IMO. Since I retired, we have had 4 or 5 (or 6?) different secondary plans, with the changes brought about by my retirement company's human resources department, and more recently by the yearly selection that I must make through AON, an on-line exchange. Sometimes, I have the option of keeping the same plan for the next year as a default. As part of the retirement plan, there is a yearly cash reimbursement plan. That's a nice benefit, but some providers send out bills that lack information required for reimbursement, such as a full description of the service or the date of service. I'm currently fight for a $240 reimbursement where I've submitted, twice nearly 10 pages of documentation. A real PITA.
