For 4 years, we had a President who didn't believe in democracy or checks on his power. We had a President who would say anything to further his cause, regardless of the truth and regardless how many times people told him what he was saying was false. We had a President who praised dictatorial thugs while alienating allies because the dictators flattered him and had seized power for life. We had a President who kowtowed to Putin and served as his useful idiot to damage American institutions. We had a President who would tell his supporters anything and endorse conspiracy theories to preserve his power. The last 4 years were one gigantic crisis of democracy and US national security that Trump promoted, which culminated in what happened on Jan 6.

The reason you're so isolated in your opinions on these boards is that a bunch of reasonable conservatives abandoned the GOP under Trump precisely because of what I said above. None of those things has anything to do with historical liberal or conservative policies, but the GOP backed him anyways because "judges and tax cuts". So comparing Biden's calls for unity with anything that happened under Trump goes over like a lead balloon.
