The idea that they're still being printed is kind of a joke at this point. Nothing like paying to read 2,000-word treatises about town council meetings that happened 3 days ago, written by 20-somethings fresh out of making the poor life choice to dump tens of thousands of dollars into a dead-end degree. (And who generally have no stake in or institutional knowledge about the communities they cover.)
David Teel is the only local journalist I can think of that I ever go out of my way to read, and I'm betting he's basically working for gas money and good seats at ACC basketball games at this point.
