I think that would not play well for the party long-term, honestly

I haven't seen any data, but I wouldn't imagine a large percentage of the voting public having a huge problem with 15 weeks (I could very well be wrong about that...).

Uphold the law without overturning Roe v Wade and most people are probably OK. Overturning Roe (which I'm guessing only the most radical Rs really care about, but they are fucking loud) would create a real opportunity for the Ds to cast Rs as a party of old white guys that couldn't give two shits about women and for the Supreme Court to become a voting issue for Ds the way it has been for some Rs. Probably better politically to thread the needle. Screw the socially conservative nutjobs - not like they're going to stop voting (or vote D).

We shall see.
