Interested. The whole point is that we do not know enough about the variant and that’s why flights needed to be stopped. Every case I have read about in the west has been directly tied to people flying in from Southern Africa. And the UK would have found this well before they did if it had been present there as they do more sequencing. It’s obviously very contagious. The euro countries want to slow (they can’t stop it) the next explosion as long as they can while people are getting boosters until there is enough data to show it is not going to cause health issues to vaccinated folks.

And don’t get me started on the vaccine inequality stuff. The South African government has been turning away agreed upon shipments because they are afraid they will expire and go to waste because the uptake has been so poor. They have plenty on hand but the government and the medical profession can’t get the citizens to take it. Which gives the virus longer and more chances to fall into a mutation that will be harmful.
