Right, but we’re starting with a disease that


killed 20x as many people in the first year as the flu typically does. And did so in a year when we took measures that were so effective at stopping the spread of respiratory viruses, that flu deaths were reduced to roughly 600. So under similar conditions, covid was more than 1000x more deadly than the flu.

But sticking with deaths in a typical flu year, overall, as measured by deaths, covid is 20x more dangerous than the flu (putting aside hospitalization, long covid, myocarditis, etc). No matter how you try to parse out the Venn diagram, covid is significantly more dangerous than the flu overall (20x) and far more dangerous than that for people in higher risk grips.
