but really just can't agree with that kind of future path. IMO, it just lowers the bar in ways that are very analogous to how it has been lowered in many other segments of society -- not the least of which is politics. There are countless examples of societal challenges enforcing rules and regulations -- in what system (and we're not just talking industries) is there not an incentive to cheat? The only reason for a civilized society to really "give in" is if we think the rules as they are now are somehow just so wrong, so grossly unfair, so unenforceable as to cause other major issues, etc... Some do sincerely believe this about major NCAA athletics -- that the rules are so unfair related to the athletes that they should be changed for this reason. I strongly disagree, but that is a different point. I just shudder at the "let's work with what we have today" argument because I think we are better than this and as we actually do this in other analogous situations - not to be overly-dramatic - it is serving to really hurt our overall society as our morals and ethics sink to new lows.
