Yeah, I get all that... but it just shows how crazy our system of

health care is. The average family of 4 has 4 annual checkups, plus some prescriptions, the occasional extra doctor visits for being sick or injured and maybe some even less frequent extra visits for more serious issues (broken bones, bad illness, etc). There's no way that *should* gets you anything remotely close to $11.5K per year (ignoring the added cost of the co-pay / deductibles... and for Silver plans, I think the deductibles are pretty high). I realize you then also have to cover the true insurance portion of healthcare... catastrophic injuries / major trauma or illnesses (i.e. cancer) and while these come with a very high cost, fortunately, they are also very rare. It just seems the all-in cost should be WAY less to me.

And if we DO determine $11.5k is the cost, then we can't subsidize households with income that is 60% higher than the national average.
