In my book, insane means you are incapable of rational thought. The purchase of the gun days in advance, the deliberate selection of the target, the act itself and his suicide in the end all require some level of rational thinking that a truly insane person would not be able to do.

I’ll concede that my definition of insanity is more limited than some slimeball defense attorney. But, I don’t think someone should get to plead insanity when they’re just so pissed off at the world that they just don’t give a damn who they hurt in the process of punching their own ticket. If that were the case, every suicide bomber who ever lived would also be insane.
