He actually tried to fire his lawyers because he was insulted they wanted to proceed with an insanity defense as it detracted from the statement he was trying to make.

Personally, I didn’t think his manifesto were incoherent ramblings of someone that had lost their mind. He was troubled, had issues and came to a place where he felt justified in killing those people (and attempts at many more).

I’d need to be convinced that someone literally did not realize or could not control what they were doing and he doesn’t get there. I’m a stickler for ownership.
