My daughter had such an experience while working at a hotel in NJ

It was her senior year in HS, and she worked some evenings at a hotel in Morristown, NJ. She had spent her full junior year. in Denmark where she had become quite comfortable with the Danish language. A group of businessmen showed up to check in, and while she was checking them in, they reverted to their mother tongue,which was Danish. One of them made a very funny joke that she understood, and she started laughing. One of the men was instantly irate and asked, "Why are you laughing at us?" She then switched to Danish to answer their question, and they were surprised that an American with black hair and dark eyes spoke their language.
