Chuck, sorry but your argument doesn't hold water

Someone who experiences something or bears witness to something does not, in fact, make them an expert on the experience.

Is someone who survives a plane crash an expert on airline safety?
Is someone who had an abortion an expert on pro life/choice?
Is someone who hit a home run in little league once an expert on all things baseball?

These kids are certainly due our respect as survivors of this tragedy and I commend them for lending their voice to the cause for reform. But their experience does not make them any more of an expert in gun control than it makes them an expert in basket weaving. Now, if they take that experience, couple it with years of research, write a few books, and advocate a particular platform as a lobbyist, etc. then I might consider them an expert in the field.
