But a lot of the people harmed from this are kids. The studies show families aren't really better off by adding the work requirement if you take away SNAP. So the kids get no financial benefit, but their caretaker is now out of the house at work for a lot longer. If the family now needs to pay for childcare, that would be even less money for food.

Food insecurity is a major problem for kids. The benefits to a kids health, self-esteem, future income later in life, are all proven by making sure kids have sufficient means for food and that they don't go to bed hungry. As a fan of science and data, it pisses me off to see people propose ideas that hurt programs that have proven benefits on all of society. If kids grow up more successful, that helps everyone. Cutting off SNAP funding doesn't break the cycle of poverty. Making sure no kid goes hungry does help improve those kids' lives, and it has been proven. These kids didn't put themselves in this position, yet they are being punished for it if these work requirements/SNAP reductions go forward.
