In the past they lied for different reasons. Back then, it was the idea...

"This is for your own good. You're better off not knowing the ugly truth." Eisenhower's heart attacks, the U-2 shoot down, the Bay of Pigs, the true number of VC and NVA troops in South Vietnam. This could easily be unfair, but it seems like she and Sean Spicer lied about stuff simply because Presidente Maximo Spanky told them to go out into the press room and lie because his self-image depended on people's believing what was said when there was absolutely no reason to lie. I really think this administration, like Nixon did with Ron Ziegler, has gone out of its way to leave her and Spicer in the dark.
