I hope this all works out for the best, and despite my extreme dislike for
Trump, I have no problem with him engaging with Un and hope it turns out to be successful.
That said, you seem to be giving Un too much benefit of the doubt here. Is it possible he really loves his people and wants to do the right thing, but that he was just born into an impossible situation as you surmised in a post yesterday? Yes that's possible, but man, it just just seems like there's not much evidence at all to support that theory, and yet there's a ton of evidence that he, just like all of the other leaders in NK, don't give half a shit about their people who have lived in absolutely brutal, oppressive, hellish living conditions for the last 60 years. So while I won't totally rule out the possibility that he's different from his father or grandfather, it just seems unlikely to me, and I certainly don't think it's the equally likely alternative to the default assumption that he is a brutal, dictator based on the overwhelming evidence of how he treats his people.
