It's a problem I wrestled with for years, both in my evangelical past and

my post evangelical present.

I'm pretty convinced God does not micro-manage, that he did not anticipate a cave and kids being saved for a greater purpose. I do think still that God plants some sense of sacred duty to most of us to risk life and limb in rescue.

Weak sauce, I know, by my former church friends, but I at least can reconcile that God with bad shit when it happens.
