As far as the article, it was very interesting. I don’t farm those types of products but I do have some similar issues with my peach orchard. A few years ago I purchased a 12’ pneumatic hedger to do the majority of the pruning. Saved me about 150 man hours. And this year I designed and built a 8’ wide rake to push the clippings into piles at the end of each row. Again, saved over 200 man hours.

Packing boxes and chemicals are my biggest expense besides labor. And all three have gotten more expensive the last 5 years. One or two poor seasons because of weather can be devastating. I read an article the other day about the soaring suicide rates for farmers. Very sobering.
