There's a bit more to it than that.

I have excerpted the relevant passage from the linked NY Post article on the matter. It seems her hand was forced as her anonymity was compromised.

"Ford contacted The Washington Post in early July when it became apparent that Kavanaugh might be a likely nominee to replace retiring Justice Anthony M. Kennedy.
She also contacted her congresswoman, Democrat Anna G. Eshoo, and sent a letter via Eshoo’s office to Calif. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee.
Feinstein sat on the letter, citing the woman’s request for privacy, and finally revealed the existence of it to her Democratic colleagues last week under pressure. She turned the letter over to the FBI on Thursday.
By Friday, the details of the letter had leaked and King was inundated by reporters, forcing her to break her silence.
“That individual strongly requested confidentiality, declined to come forward or press the matter further, and I have honored that decision,” Feinstein said Thursday. “I have, however, referred the matter to federal investigative authorities.”
