A similar thought occured to me as well.


When GHWB's body was delivered to the Capitol and his family was waiting outside at the top of the steps, the camera panned at the city's surroundings. In the distance was the Washington Monument and also nearby, the monuments to Lincoln and Jefferson. In the general vicinity, would be the hallowed ground of the WW2 and Vietnam War Memorials.

These are all symbolic of stellar examples of service to the nation and it was only fitting that George Bush was allowed a final visit to be among them, since he represented their values so well.
