Sounds like the author should emulate

the white boy instead of monitoring and resenting him

I’ve jokingly told my kids they can go to Harvard, Yale, Stanford, etc....OR... U of F with in state tuition. But There are times when I’m not sure I’d want either of my sons in those ridiculous environments even if they were fortunate enough to be accepted.
