wagging and moral righteousness, painting themselves right into a corner up until the point it became apparent that this was a coordinated hit on more than just Northam, and that the Lt. Governor everyone was ready to swear in may be in deeper trouble than he is. Now good luck saying "really? So the guy dressed up in an offensive costume 40 years ago..WTF cares?"

The Republicans would have dismissed the whole thing as fake news and just started waddabouting every racist incident involving a Democrat they can dredge up until the state moves on. Lots of "but Robert Byrd was in the Klan". The Dems don't roll that way but really made themselves look like idiots in this one.
