I'd be careful about being too dismissive of this.

This is a bullseye cultural wedge issue. Harris looks to me like one of the candidates likeliest to be on the moderate end. At a minimum she does not self-identify as a dem socialist.

I think you and I are on the same page in our perceived urgency to get rid of the Don and Trumpism. I'd feel way better about Harris if she found a way to punt that question. I suspect she was trapped, and has no intention of pushing for this, but of course Trumpies make this out to be her new favorite cause. And that is the trap she risks falling into.

Trumpism thrives in the cultural divide - whether about this, or statues, or kneeling QBs. Dems have to learn to punt this issue completely - changing the name of the holiday will do far, far less good for the historical perspectives of Americans than it will benefit the political aspirations of Trumpists who want to scream "THEY'RE STEALING YOUR CULTURE!!"

Things like this could be a good bellweather for determining if the dems are losing their way and playing into Trumpie hands.
