When have I ever argued to round them all up? Quite the opposite actually.

We are never going to round up 11 or 22M people, so let's not even pretend we will. But start with better securing the border, and improving the process for returning those that have no right to enter going further, so as to better control the flow coming in. (I would also argue to improve our system to allow for legal entry going forward, and a legitimate e-verify system, but that's a separate subject). For the DACA eligible crowd, as did Trump, I suggest we give them all a path to citizenship assuming they have no violent crime in their history. I would approach illegal adults already here the same way. If they have no history of violent crimes, put them on the path to citizenship (or permanent residency if that's the best compromise we can come to). Once they're on that path, you can stay and work legally, but if you do get caught committing a serious crime, don't let the wall gate hit you on the way out. No sanctuary - you're caught committing a crime while waiting, here's your one way ticket. Come back again illegally, and you're off to jail for a long time before getting your next one way ticket.

Sorry, if you commit a serious crime, you do not get treated the same as a citizen (or arguably better). You can stay detained until your hearing, and if convicted, buh bye. Just like what happens to legal immigrants awaiting their citizenship.
