Don't know the details. You mentioned tax exempt. I think they all

are tax exempt, but I'm not sure. I also don't know the specific rules about churches being political, but I know that many traditionally black churches seem to be, as well as the evangelicals. The NRA certainly is political, but I'm not sure of their tax status (too lazy to research, but if they are, my thoughts would apply to them).
