My problem with the tariffs isn't that Trump is using tariffs to address unfair trade practices by the Chinese. In fact quite the opposite, he's attacking the right problem. He's just going about it in a haphazard and reckless way and doing it ALONE instead of joining forces with our allies to present a stronger and unified front against china's trade abuses. If we were presenting a unified front against china with our allies, it might still require tariffs and other trade sanctions to get the attention of the Chinese and bring them to the negotiating table. And there would still be local impacts.

So a bunch of upper middle class suburbanites might have to pay a little more for their recycling. Cry me a river. What's next, an increase in the price of soy lattes?
