There was much more of that in the 60's through the 80's. The people in


power in D.C. were heavily skewed toward being WWII and Korean War Vets. They shared foxholes (being somewhat figurative, of course) with men from all over the country and from all over the political spectrum. I am not throwing out "The Greatest Generation" assertion...but do believe that most of these men did place country and cooperation over party. They lived through a time where liberty and freedom truly were under threat.
