This is a tough one. The professor in question seems to be openly sexist,
racist and homophobic, which yes, aren't actual crimes. But they are going to some pretty extreme means to 'accommodate his 1st amendment rights.' This isn't a case of a handicapped teacher needing some physical accommodation to do their job, but someone who BECAUSE of their open views simply won't be able to do their job effectively anymore, and is costing IU money as they try to walk this fence.
So I guess it's likely tenure related that they can't fire him, but is there no recourse if there's a professor who teaches a class....and no one is willing to sign up for it? Or if there's a professor who needs all these double checks put on them in the classroom?
