So, what, you're calling out SC for not supporting change in 1944?


I suspect that was a tad before his time, and the last of those justices was done almost 45 years ago. So, you know, he's understandably more concerned with 2019.

The country did have an issue with FDR's outsized overall influence. It passed the 22nd amendment to reduce the impact one president can have on the Supreme Court among many other things.

Given the amount of luck involved in whether a pres gets any nominations, and the way opposing parties no longer "advise and consent", instead obstructing nominations by presidents from the other party, whether McConnell blocking consideration of Garland or Dem tactics against Kavanaugh, we probably can't get SC nominees confirmed anymore when the WH and senate are controlled by different parties. Evaluating new approaches makes sense.
