Couple of things. One just because someone has served our

country for decades doesn't mean they shouldn't be held accountable. He even pretty much admitted to wrong doing:

[During the sentencing, Chief Gallagher told the jury he had put “a black eye” on the Marine Corps and the Navy. “I’ve made mistakes in my 20-year career — tactical, ethical, moral — I’m not perfect,”]

I get it, the guy served in some shitty areas under hellish conditions, but that doesn't give him the right to do what ever he wants. If that's the case, where is the line drawn??

Second, you call the men who tried him "do gooders". Do you men the men who are trying to uphold the law and moral standards of the military? Read the article and it becomes pretty clear that this veteran has some serious issues. It looks as if he was protected by the military, but they had to do something to punish him for what he did. So they got him on this minor offense because more than likely he was guilty of a lot worse. That is probably why so many high ranking officials wanted Trump to stay they hell out of it.

In the end Trump needs to stay out of it. I also hope that some day soon the VA can give him and all others the help they truly need.
