Michael McFaul asks him about Guiliani, Parnas and Fruman:

“I’m not convinced that Giuliani, Parnas and Fruman really care about corruption in Ukraine. So what were they looking to achieve?”

Leshchenko:

"How to present corruption: it’s almost like a drama, and maybe Zelensky will play himself in the movie version. In this drama of American politics there are a number of strange characters, and the strangest is Giuliani. He has played a role in my personal work.

He declared I was an enemy of Trump and the US, which made it difficult for me to work in Zelensky’s government. Giuliani wanted to be helpful for his client and was looking for conspiracy theories, and Lutsenko was ready to provide these.

Lutsenko understood Poroshenko was going to lose the elections, so he decided to be a political animal. He provided dirt to Giuliani to have the US push to keep Lutsenko in power. But something went wrong: Zelensky decided not to meet with Giuliani.

Lutsenko had no real proof on Hunter Biden. This was the second problem. It was strange for me that “America’s mayor” who fought the mafia in New York was now working with mafia in Ukraine?!"
