Yes. The moderates will decide the race in the swing states.

What happened in the swing states in 2018? The educated, women, and the suburbs already moved away from Trump which had a huge bearing in the House. They stomped the GOP. The most important: voter turnout was massive. After the Ukraine Scandal, turnout will only get worse.

2020 is in the hands of the Democrats. If the economy is stable, only a perceived bad candidate can move moderates back to Trump. Arguably, there are some people who believe Bernie and Liz are bad for the economy (esp. Bernie). Even then it will be close. Trump is an idiot for not making 2020 into a proxy for the economy. Only a true moron would be underwater in an upcycle in the economy.

The other possibly is a downturn in the economy. That would spell doom for Trump regardless of his opponent.

Trump needs the moderates. That's why he's panicking about Biden.
