take it on the chin for taking too much time off, they all take it on the chin for their pardons. And they always do it when they don't care anymore. TBH, if Trump had left the prosecution of Stone alone, and then just pardoned him, I'd be less upset about it. That's standard fare, right or wrong, a major perk of the office (and it's mostly a royal pain in the ass for the occupant), and not a political weaponization of the Justice Dept. We are at a moment when Trump is on a retribution binge - if he'll intervene to protect a friend, he will intervene to attack an enemy. Out of retribution, not justice.

Trump actually wants us all to see - including all the despots around the world he idolizes - that the Justice Dept is an instrument of his personal political power. And that is where democracy rapidly dies. Once that happens, it's over. And like so many things with this fucker, he does what he cries foul against. Somehow, the O admin made sure that the voters didn't know about the Russia inquiry until after election day, but Trumpies think O was weaponizing the Justice Dept against Trump. Even after the IG independently found no untoward political motivation underpinning the investigation, Trump's personal henchman and favoritist new Michael Cohen will just keep launching new investigations until he gets the result his master insists upon.

Whatever faith I had in the Durham investigation, and it wasn't much after the IG report, it's gone.
