Prefer it that way, but it may not be great in a pandemic. It is true that public sentiment led govt response. Shutting down 2 weeks earlier would have no doubt saved lots of lives as that recent study showed, but the country would not have complied 2 weeks earlier.
From cabin fever to economic desperation, there’s a whole bunch of reasons the public’s saying ok, that’s it. And I think some people are making a show of being gutsy with their courageous rebellion against masks and social distancing, which may turn out to be really stupid. We don’t do middle ground well in this country.
