I kinda like the "Open them for a week to spread them out" idea. I'm not
against mail voting, but I'd disagree with the comparison to grocery shopping. (note, not disagreeing on the haircut comparison).
You NEED to go to the grocery store to live. Voting, well, I HOPE that everyone decides that they also NEED to do that, but I'm sure some won't. And as we've seen in many past elections, for some reason the lines to vote are a lot shorter in rural and suburban communities.
So adding voting machines to shorten the lines (and the time people spend close together) AND opening the polls for a longer time period sounds like a pretty good idea.
