Hell- it feels like we should be doing more to contain and minimize movement around our own country for the time being. Keep things local and manage.

So while people in other developed markets are going back to work, thinking about resuming travel, figuring out school, we still don't have a plan (or a clue). More important to politicize with wearing of masks I suppose. It seems like we're in good company as it sounds like Russia and Brazil will be on the same list.

This is what pisses me off. We did what we did to buy time. To minimize the impact on our healthcare system, to figure out how the virus works, to determine the best steps to mitigate risk, and then to get things rolling again. I think we've largely been successful in the first 2, but have decided to stop short for some reason (probably because we can't do anything in this country any more without politicizing and we have millions of countrymen and women that are either willfully ignorant of completely selfish). We just couldn't seem to make the transition from 'stay at home' to 'be prudent and responsible as you get on with your life'.

We are becoming more and more like the countries I mentioned above and less and less respected on the world stage in the process. If kids in Asia and Europe are back in school this fall and we're not (or doing something a lot closer to 'normal' than we are), it will show just how weak we've become in such a short period of time. We will reflect our "leader".
