of the Rockies---I'm a river guy--but they have some pretty streams. But, yes, Rushmore is worth doing.

If you have the money, hire that guide you were talking about for a day. I recall a campaign trip photo op from Obama on the Gallatin River outside (or inside) Bozeman. He was holding a fly rod with a rainbow, maybe 14 inches. He was grinning like a child at Christmas time; it literally made him joyous.

I'll recall now an hour on the Stillwater, just south of Columbus. It was March and the 'bows were coming up from the Yellowstone R to spawn. I was into a perfect little holding spot and caught, 5, I think rainbows in short order, 3 of them in the 18-20 inch class. Beautiful creatures. Across the river, a small herd of mule deer were grazing and a flock of turkeys came down for a sip. Then I hit the big one! I was fairly complacent having just had so much action. Having a blast I didn't get serious until the fish came into view. It was significantly larger than the others. Got my attention and broke off immediately. It's a photo in my mind. It was my last bite for the day.
