Second only, perhaps, to God giving the commandments to Moses is the ideal of speech expressed by a constituent giving his hard earned dollar to a political candidate. The mere idea that such a constituent should sacrifice his anonymity, or that a candidate might dare to take something as callous as money from a questionable source is an insult to this great nation. There is a reason why speech is part of the FIRST amendment to the Constitution. It is the bedrock upon which so much else in this country is built. It must be protected at any cost.
