That could also be said about several presidents, most certainly for Korea and Vietnam, not to mention our latest war. One could argue that WWI and WWII were necessary. Although there is some wiggle room with WWI and Wilson trying to protect US assets and finance and not really having a dog in the fight, otherwise. And one could certainly question if the War Between the States could have been resolved in another manner. But then, one snarky comment turn by you deserves another, doesn't it? Correct on Buchanan, a faux pas on my part and not really a small note, being that Buchanan was a democrat and slavery appeaser, even though he was from the north, I believe. Which then begs the question, how would Lincoln have handled John Brown?
