When I was at UVa Law I didn't really want to be a traditional lawyer, and

one of the places I applied for a legal aid-type job was the Wind River Reservation, in Ft. Washakie. They apparently, and correctly, didn't think I was serious as they never responded...

Years later I drove through the reservation on my way to Yellowstone. It's beautiful but stark, harsh, windblown ("Wind River" ia an accurate name) country compared to what you see on the other side of the mountain between Dubois and Jackson.

Before we entered the res, we stopped and had a burger and a beer at a little joint in Lander. We turned a corner to where we'd parked the car, and a gust of wind just about blew us over. Then we drove through the Wind River Reservation.

I'll be honest, when I saw the terrain I was not unhappy that they had never responded to the job app.
