He has become an observer, a bystander, in his own presidency.

He has no policies. He has edicts, most of which are unlawful or not enforceable. As the degree of his powerlessness becomes more publicly obvious, his support among GOP office holders is likewise becoming more problematic and less monolithic.

I think the sinking ship metaphor is over used but also appropriate now. If you are seeking election as a GOP candidate it is every man for himself time.
