If you can stay 6 feet apart outside, there's no reason to wear a mask.
That also means you're not yelling at people (protestors). That said, it's good practice to wear a mask inside where there are people in proximity ... unless you need to use your mouth for eating. The virus spreads easily indoors for some reason. It's allegedly the vapors from your mouth that does the most damage. Yelling, singing, heavy breathing, coughing, etc. are things to avoid. Fortunately, the "vapors" dissipates far easier outside.
A lot of it is just common sense. For instance, using a mask to go into a restaurant ... and then removing it when ready to eat. I think part of reason for asking patrons to wear a mask is psychological. It's to tell the other patrons that I take the virus seriously ... and do my best to keep safe. If that helps move the economy, then we should all do it.
