It is about the first year (1933-34) of Ambassador Dodd's assignment to Berlin. He arrived shortly after the Reichstag fire and while Hitler was gradually taking power, and the Nazi Brown shirts were running rampant, even attacking Americans and other non Germans who failed to stop and give the Nazi salute as their parades passed by. It helps me understand better how it happened, and convinces me it could happen anywhere, including here in the US. Given the total fealty of the McConnell Senate to Trump, I fear what could happen in another four years of Trump if he as the senate and the courts in his pocket.
